Guides

Your car broke down on the highway. Do these six things.

  1. Hazard lights on

the moment you feel it. Ease left; get fully off the carriageway if you can.

  2. Everyone out, left side, behind the barrier.

Never stand behind or beside the car in traffic.

  3. Warning triangle 50 metres back

if you have one. At night, keep the parking lights on.

  4. Share your live location

on WhatsApp with someone — and with us. Note the nearest kilometre stone.

  5. Call for help before you open the bonnet.

On a national highway, 1033 is the NHAI helpline; we’ll get a truck moving in parallel.

  6. Don’t accept a random tow.

Ask for the price and the destination first. If it isn’t clear, wait for ours.
